Van Helsing Reboot is coming (and it’s connected to Universal’s Monsters Universe)

Yes, I can already hear you asking “aren’t there ENOUGH so-called cinematic universes these days? Why does there have to be another one?” Well, this one has Dracula, the Mummy, the Wolf-Man, Frankenstein’s monster, along with some others, so lets just say it has potential. This universe also has plenty of acting talent in its favor, with actors like Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Russell Crowe, Sofia Boutella, and Tom Cruise all throughout a number of films.

  • Johnny Depp – The Invisible Man
  • Sofia Boutella – The Mummy
  • Javier Bardem – Frankenstein’s monster
  • Russell Crowe – Dr. Jekyll
  • Tom Cruise – Tyler Colt

dracula-untoldThis universe started with the 2014 Dracula Untold film that didn’t quite meet expectations from the studio, leading to them committing to the idea by bringing in big-name talent. Besides, now that Universal has their monsters, they’re going to need a proper monster hunter. That’s where the Van Helsing reboot comes in.

The previous Van Helsing movie, fronted by Hugh Jackman, will now be followed by this reboot written by Eric Heisserer and will connect with the Mummy film headed by Tom Cruise.

No other information is currently available on the reboot, but if they’re able to recruit a worthy leading talent, then this universe just may have a chance at prospering.

The next installment within this universe comes on June 6th, 2017 with The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis, and Courtney B. Vance.
