Wasteland 3 – Crowd Funded

Good news everybody! Wasteland 3 has reached its initial $2.75 million crowd-funding goal through fig.com – the crowd funding website specifically for video games. In fact Wasteland 3 managed to achieve its initial goal in just 3 days with 13,952 backers donating $2,805,758 – that’s an average pledge of $201.10 per person, which frankly, is just incredible. Wasteland 3 is described on the website has being “a party-based roleplaying game with an emphasis on deep reactivity, replayability, and strategic combat. It will be playable in single player and synchronous/asynchronous multiplayer, and released on Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.”

The main theme of Wasteland 3 will clearly be the fact that you’ll be in a frozen wasteland as opposed to the more arid climate that featured in Wasteland 2, and the game looks to have already gotten a lot of hype considering how fast it was funded. There are some stretch goals for the game as well and they are the following:

  •  $2.85M: 37 Pieces of Flair – We unlock further Ranger customization, which could include multiple body types, more heads, and more hairstyles. Plus we’ll show items that your Ranger has equipped (gear like shovels, binoculars, etc) on their models.
  • $3M: Car Companion (Codename: Morningstar) – We add a talking car companion! Morningstar is an AI built to serve President Reagan, but he’ll help you both in your travels and during combat, plus he’ll give you well-timed advice on how to wipe out all the dirty commies out there. See more on him below!
  • $3.1M: Customizable Ranger Squad Insignia – At the start of the game, you get to customize a Ranger Squad insignia for your team, which will show up on your Ranger Base as well as elsewhere in the game (on flags, for example).

They already look to be nailed on to hit their first stretch goal, and I cannot wait to see where this game goes – especially when you see what they’ve done so far in their Wasteland 3 – A Frosty Reception trailer that dropped on YouTube a few days ago – check it out below.
