Free Anniversary DLC Coming to This War of Mine

Harrowing story of humanity gets more free content.

Did you play This War of Mine? If not, you probably should. For me it was a surprise hit for me when I discovered and played it earlier this year.

The game is a war survival experience game, inspired by the war in Sarajevo in Bosnia between 1992 and 1996. The game focuses on the civilians caught in the city during the war and their fight for survival. Civilians must survive against hunger, thirst, the harshness of winter and their own sanity to make it till the ceasefire. Along the way you will need to make some questionable decisions and choices in order to survive, or help other survivors out – each action having a direct impact on what happens to your civilians next. It’s a fantastic game that really makes you think about your choices.

Having just reached its second anniversary on Friday last week, developers 11 Bit have released a free update of content to all Steam players. Detailing the update, PC Gamer have listed what is included. The update includes the following extra content:

  • New locations – new areas in the game for your civilians to explore and loot to survive.
  • New civilians – new characters to play as that will provide new abilities and stories of their survival in the war-torn country.
  • New ending scenario – will you make it to the ceasefire? A scenario will provide a new ending for your efforts (or lack of).
  • New achievements – completionists will have to come back to This War of Mine to re-acquire their 100%.

Gamasutra have reported that the update is currently only for the Steam version of the game. Console versions will receive the update in the future.
