Mass Effect Andromeda Multiplayer has links to Single Player campaign

The multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 was a fun distraction from single player and an engaging way to keep logging in plenty of gameplay hours with ME3′s quality combat. For Andromeda, Bioware is bringing back multiplayer, but they’ve found a way to connect the two main modes through a method very similar to Dragon Age Inquisition. There will be a game-within-a-game in which players will assign teams to partake in side missions or do those missions yourself on the online mode.

This kind of assignment of little tasks and missions has been used in games like Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and Inquisition, but they were rarely too interactive outside of the initial amount of selections to start the mission. Multiplayer will allow you to assume control of those assigned teams to take care of those tasks yourself, ensuring a greater control over the missions themselves.

It seems that Bioware has heard the criticisms that came with the perhaps “tacked-on feeling” for ME3’s fun multiplayer and found a way to make it more relevant to those who felt that the mode wasn’t worth checking out. Lead designer Ian Frazier made a point to mention that the online is purely optional, in case players get worried that they’re missing out on vital content.

Regardless of whether you spend ten hours or ten minutes on multiplayer, at least Bioware is finding a way to add some more depth to the online and making it more worth the time of players.

It’s been confirmed that Andromeda’s multiplayer will stick with the Horde mode-like 4 player missions and gameplay modes.
