Something For The Weekend: Machinarium

Civilization II

Good news everyone! It’s Friday, and though a lot of you will still be playing newer games like Titanfall 2, Dishonored 2 or Civilization VI not all of us have the luxury of being able to get these new shiny games on or near release. Don’t worry though, I’ve got your back as this week’s Something For The Weekend will rekindle a love for little robots with Amanita Design’s wonderful – Machinarium. Check out the trailer below.

A graphic point-and-click style adventure game, Machinarium is unique in that there is no dialogue whatsoever within the game, the whole story being played out like a movie from the Golden Age of Silent Cinema. In fact apart from a short bit of tutorial style instructions at the very start, there is no other real or understandable language throughout the entire game.

Machinarium is one of those games that easily falls into the beautiful category, a hand-drawn style that has caught on a lot in recent years and the popularity and critical praise that Machinarium had helping to advance this style of animation within games.

Machinarium is available on PC (as well as Mac and Linux) through the official website or Steam as well as on PlayStation 3, PS Vita and on mobile.

What do you think of Machinarium? Are you a fan? Would you look into getting this over the weekend? Let us know in the comments below, the RGM Forums or on Twitter.
