The Last Guardian Gets New Gameplay Trailer

Are we actually going to be able to play it in less than a month?!

By just saying the following statement I may well jinx it, but I’m going to say it anyways…The Last Guardian comes out in less than a month!

*looks around nervously, OK, we seem to be OK.

Yes, the game that has been in development for nearly 10 years will be finally playable by us, the gamers, at long last! To celebrate, Sony have released a new gameplay trailer on their YouTube channel.

Though, there doesn’t seem to be much of a song and dance about it if I’m honest, the trailer is only 39 seconds long and you’d think after all the time and money invested into it there’d be more of a focus on it.

This is all speculation but there could be a few reasons for the lack of fanfare around the PS4 exclusive:

  • Maybe the game just isn’t that good? The game has been in development for so long, expectations may well be exceedingly high and it could be case of “Duke Nukem: Forever syndrome”. Because of that, Sony may just want it done and released at this point, 10 years is certainly a long time for anything (unless you’re talking about evolution or something).
  • It’s spent so long in development that fans have lost interest? People only have so much patience, so now that it’s finally coming out, maybe people’s reaction is just “meh.”
  • There have been mixed feelings after giving the game a play – from what I have read, there are concerns from people who have managed to give The Last Guardian a play. Some love it, others are more cautious about it. I guess we will see soon enough.

If I’m honest, I was looking forward to it and if I get the opportunity to play it I’m sure I will, but I’m not going to go out of my way to play it, which is a shame, as such a unique looking game probably deserves more attention (unless it’s just an Ico clone, then there needs to be more originality).

The Last Guardian is a PS4 exclusive and releases on Decemer 7th.
