For any doubters of how Final Fantasy XV would be received after the ten year wait here is your proof.

In a press release from Square Enix the company details the sale of over 5 million copies for the games first day of availability making it the fastest to that benchmark of the entire series. The sales of the game are also boosted by the first ever simultaneous worldwide release of the game, in the past the west would receive the game at a later date. While the press release does not detail whether this is copies sold to retailers or sold to consumers the demand for the latest Final Fantasy installment can not be denied.

Final Fantasy XV originally began development back in 2006 under the name XIII v. 2 and was revealed on Sony’s E3 stage more then once it its development. The game itself has been receiving critical success with many reviewers scoring the game at the lowest an 8/10 and many higher.

Featuring a new battle and magic system FFXV takes a full step away from the series titular turn-based style. After the ten year wait, FFXV is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide.
