The Fate of the Furious First Trailer Revealed

To say that The Fast and the Furious has grown as a franchise is quite the understatement. Releasing in 2001, The Fast and the Furious brought in a respectable $207 Million on a budget of $38 Million. The most recent film, Furious 7, was produced on $190 Million and made $1.5 Billion, currently the sixth-highest grossing film (not adjusting for inflation) of all time. The future of the series was somewhat uncertain for a time, with the death of Paul Walker in November 2013 changing the filming of Furious 7. Now the next chapter has been revealed with the debut trailer of The Fate of the Furious.

The series trademark action is back on a previously unseen scale, with themes of family, loyalty and apparent betrayal shaping the story. Whether or not this will lead to a permanent division within the long-running, tightly knit crew remains to be seen. Joining the star-studded cast is Charlize Theron, playing the villainous cyber-terrorist Cipher. The Fate of the Furious arrives in cinemas on April 17, 2017.
