The Mummy movie series looks to be getting another installment but this time, with changes all around.

Fans of the series since its 1999 The Mummy will not see any of the original actors in the new trailer as the story seems to involve a completely new cast and story. The story will be setting aside Brendan Fraser’s Rick O’ Conell and Rachel Welsz’s Evelyn Carnahan, for more A-list actors such as Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe.

The trailer for the new movie was released on Reddit earlier today and the pciture will be debuting summer 2017.

From the action and set pieces in the trailer two things are abundantly clear, there is an enormous budget for the movie and a big supernatural take. Scenes from the trailer seem much more world ending and big picture looking more like the enchantress scenes in Suicide Squad rather than the secluded and more grounded story of the 1999 movie.

The movie will also be taking on a new villain in the series with Sofia Boutella playing Ahmanet, a new version of the deadly mummy. It is not clear if any of the roles in the movie will tie into the Fraser series, but it looks as if the movie will be moving in a new direction.

We will see this summer if The Mummy will hit the high note of the original or stumble like the series sequels.

Are you looking forward to the new Mummy movie? Do you think the bigger budget will help or hurt the movie? Or are you just hoping they keep the weird CG Rock Scorpion King out of this one? Let us know in the comments below, on the RGM Forums, or over on our Twitter.
