At Sony’s E3 2015 conference, people were overwhelmed and overjoyed at the announcement of Shenmue 3 from beloved creator Yu Suzuki. While we are still awaiting more details as to the exact plot and release date, it looks like fans may have something else to look forward to as well. According to this, Shenmue HD has been registered as a domain by Sega Europe.
Now, this is not technically a confirmation but it certainly lends more credence to the idea of seeing a full remaster. Shenmue 3 is currently announced for the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms, however the developers have not ruled other versions coming in the future. It certainly seems logical that Shenmue HD (if it is happening) would be developed along the same lines but ultimately only an official statement can confirm details like that. Shenmue originally came out in 1999 for the Sega Dreamcast, so seeing a modern version with updated graphics would be incredible for modern audiences to experience.
