Middle Earth: Shadow of War will Support Xbox Play Anywhere, Including Project Scorpio

Earlier today, we got confirmation that Middle Earth: Shadow of War was real. We also got a sweet new trailer with promise of gameplay on March 8. However, the news hasn’t stopped there. The Xbox Wire has announced that Middle Earth: Shadow of War will support Xbox Play Anywhere. This means that if you buy the game digitally on Xbox One or Windows 10, you’ll get a copy on both platforms. Achievements, Gamerscore, DLC and saved games all transfer between versions seamlessly. This is a big deal, as Middle Earth: Shadow of War will be the second full-price third-party game to support Xbox Play Anywhere. The first was Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

There’s even more great news for Xbox/Windows 10 gamers though. While we know all Xbox One games will run on Project Scorpio, Middle Earth: Shadow of War will be updated to support improvements of some fashion when the console launches. At least in my opinion, it seems likely this will be a showpiece title for Project Scorpio. I also imagine we’ll learn more about this at Xbox’s E3 event this year. In any event, we aren’t waiting long before the game arrives. According to Monolith Productions, Middle Earth: Shadow of War will release on August 22, 2017.
