Since its launch, Gears of War 4 has received several substantial updates. From improving lobbies, listening to feedback on weapon balance, new maps and more, The Coalition seem committed to continually improving the game. Recently, they detailed a new update affecting Ranked playlists and introducing Gears of War 4 Seasons.
First, the update will improve Ranked matchmaking by grouping players more closely based on skill. However, it will also work to balance teams will equal numbers of players. As an example, if there are 4 Diamond-ranked players in a lobby, they will most likely be split evenly across the teams.
Next, Seasons are incoming. The season will be a period of a few months where you try to get your rank as high as possible. After the season ends, you’ll get rewards based on your standing. These rewards will be special weapon skins themed after the ranks; Bronze, Silver, Gold and so on. However, you can’t rest easy afterwards, as your skill will be reset. The seasons don’t have a launch date yet as the team is still ironing out some details, however it shouldn’t be too much longer.
I really love the approach The Coalition has taken with Gears of War 4. These constant updates inject life into the community. In addition, it makes it fun having new things to look forward to.
