One of the many exciting games upcoming this year is Prey, a science-fiction first-person shooter from Arkane Studios. These are the same developers behind Dishonored and Dishonored 2. Recently, they released a developer diary talking about the design of the story and gameplay. However, that’s not all. They have also just announced a special Prey Film Fest, in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
The Inspirations of Prey – A Sci-Fi Film Fest will focus on the films that helped inspire the design of Prey, showing MOON, Starship Troopers, Total Recall and The Matrix all throughout April. In addition, they have a list of events lined up so fans can get a chance to try the game before release. If you’re interested in attending any of these events, you can RSVP here.
Honestly, given the impact science-fiction films have had on gaming, this is an interesting marketing move. I also think it’s cool to give fans insight into what creative processes influence a game’s development. The more I see of Prey, the more it continues to excite me. Fortunately, we won’t be waiting much longer to play it.
