Gears of War 4 is Getting Ranked Crossplay

Gears of War 4 is Getting Ranked Crossplay
These updates will be rolling out over the next couple months

A while ago, Gears of War 4 players across Xbox One and Windows 10 were given the ability to play together in social matches. However, ranked matches have been strictly separated by platform. That will be changing in the next couple of months, according to the update from The Coalition. In this community update, they outline how ranked crossplay is coming to Gears of War 4.

The first step in this update is the overhaul of playlists on Windows 10. Right now, you’ll see the following:
  • Social (Crossplay)
  • Core
    TDM or KOTH (Rotates Weekly)
  • Competitive
    Competitive Warm Up (Crossplay)
    Escalation

Due to the overhauling of the Windows 10 playlists, the Seriously 4.0 achievement cannot be earned right now without playing on Xbox One. This will be fixed extremely quickly as the playlist requirements for the achievement will be changed very soon.

The final step will be enabling ranked crossplay. However, as some Xbox One players may prefer to stick to their own platform, there will be a ‘toggle’ so you can choose to engage in crossplay or not. There’s no set release date right now, that said it will be available in the months to come.
