Now, technically, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition has been out on Xbox One and Windows 10 since December 20th, 2016. However, it was only available by pre-ordering Halo Wars 2 and could not be purchased separately.
That’s changing with today’s news from the official Halo Twitter account:
Experience the beginning of the Covenant War in Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, coming to Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam on April 20! pic.twitter.com/cy1oF1fUVq

Yup, you read that right. It’ll be up for sale on April 20th as a standalone title, coming to Steam in addition to the previous platforms. The Steam page is up right now, though no price is available as-yet.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is a remaster of the original Xbox 360 game. You’ll get access to improved visuals, a higher framerate, all the DLC and new achievements. If you’ve never tried out Halo Wars before, this looks like a great opportunity to change that. In addition, Halo Wars 2 released recently on Xbox One and Windows 10. If you’re not sure about hopping into the Halo universe through a strategy game, I recommend reading our review.
