Respawn Entertainment Enters the Realm of VR

Respawn Entertainment

Respawn Entertainment has teamed up with Oculus for a major VR release in 2019. According to the trailer they released today, it appears this will be a first-person shooter game that aims to fully immerse the gamer.

In the teaser trailer which was unveiled at today’s Oculus Connect event, CEO of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella, states, “We really want to depict being a soldier in combat in a more fully fleshed-out realistic way.” He also describes how Titanfall evolved the way gamers played as they had to “worry about things above you. It makes you think differently.

He continues to talk about the VR experience by saying, “The combat experience in VR really gives you the chance to experience life closer to what a soldier would experience in real combat. It gives you more of that feeling of paranoia and the tension.

While Respawn is working on an upcoming Star Wars title, this secret project has neither to do with it nor the Titanfall franchise.

Could this be the breakthrough AAA VR experience that we’ve all been waiting for? We’ll have to find out sometime in 2019.
