Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia announced

Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia
Vikings and Saxons, Inheritors and invaders.

While Total War has been focused on the Warhammer universe for some time now, Creative Assembly hasn’t forgotten about it’s historical fanbase. In fact, a new spinoff title called Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, has been announced. As a ‘Saga’ game, it focuses on a pivotal point in history instead of a wide era.

You can watch announcement trailer here:

Here’s a quick synopsis of the game:

It is 878 AD, and the Viking Invasion of Britain is over. The Norse warlords are firmly established, but the ambitious kings of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales have aspirations of their own – not least the great King Alfred of Wessex.

This definitely sounds exciting for me. This was a brutal time in history for Saxons and Vikings alike, so to see it given the spotlight in a Total War game is awesome. Given the popularity of shows like Vikings or The Last Kingdom, something tells me I’m not alone in thinking this.

While there’s no exact release date or price given, the trailer does say it’s coming in 2018, so I expect we’ll learn more when the new year rolls around. You can however go ahead and add Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia to your Steam wishlist here. We’ll be sure to provide updates as more information is released. Until then, destiny is all. (Yea, yea, I know).
