Rainbow Six Siege is targeting next-gen launch

This important e-sport title will be available very early on the next-gen consoles.

Rainbow Six Siege is targeting next-gen launch

Ubisoft revealed that they are targeting to launch a PS5 and Xbox Series X version of Rainbow Six Siege for the launch of the new consoles. The game director Leroy Athanassoff confirmed the information during an interview with WindowsCentral.

The interview also mentioned many additional details. One of the most interesting is the fact that the title will be playable cross-gen. It means PS4 players will be able to play with PS5 users. The same will apply for Xbox One and Xbox Series X players. The importance of not segregating the community is really important especially when you have more than 50 million registered players.

For the last couple of years, the video game industry started to incorporate a feature that many people were requesting: cross-play. With such a high-profile e-sport title like Rainbow Six Siege, to me, it was just a matter of time before it happened. I was not far from the truth. The game director confirmed in the same interview that Ubisoft is working with Sony and Microsoft to make this happen. They are ready to support this situation. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take much more time.

We can definitely see that Ubisoft was not lying when they said in the past they wanted to support this game for a long time (instead of making frequent sequels). The possibility of having a title that would be cross-play (on consoles) and cross-gen is very enticing. The community and its support are still strong and consistent since the release 5 years ago. I am very happy for the players to be able to enjoy such a title, from a company that knows what to do please them and continue to do so. Do you find this situation interesting? Are you still playing this game? Does a new version of the title make you want to jump back? Let us know in the comments or on our social media channels.
