Future Halo Games will Have Splitscreen

When Halo 5: Guardians released back in October 2015, it was a critical and commercial success. However, many players found a saddening fault in the lack of a traditional splitscreen mode. Since the birth of the franchise, players had been able to grab a partner for co-op through the campaign or multiplayer on the same screen, however Halo 5: Guardians had no such option. That said, it now looks like all future Halo games will have splitscreen again.

Moving forward, it looks like this will no longer be an issue. Bonnie Ross, the Head of 343 Industries, gave a talk at D.I.C.E. on the Halo franchise.  Here’s a link to the talk to the D.I.C.E. event through IGN, though be warned it’s fairly lengthy.

In her talk, Bonnie Ross states that “When we didn’t put split screen in Halo 5, it was incredibly painful for the community and for us. I think it erodes trust with the community, as the community is a part of our world building.” She ended her talk by saying “For any FPS, we will always have split screen support going forward.”

So there you have it. This should be great news to Halo fans, as more options are always great for gamers.
