Today, some very interesting news was posted on the Xbox Wire. Alan Hartman, studio head of Turn 10, confirmed that the latest entry in the Forza franchise did quite well. He specifically announced that Forza Horizon 3 has sold 2.5 million copies. According to the NPD Group, this makes Forza the best-selling racing franchise this console generation. However, the news doesn’t stop there. Alan also announced that as of December 2016, the Forza franchise has grossed over $1 Billion.

The only other franchises from Xbox confirmed to be over the $1 Billion mark are Halo and Gears of War. Certainly, this is by no means a small feat. Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, commented that “Since the beginning, Forza has combined stunning graphics, racing’s leading simulation engine, and an emphasis on fun and accessibility. With the Forza series, Turn 10 Studios has built the world’s largest racing community. We couldn’t be more proud of their success.”

Alan concludes by thanking fans for their continued support and telling them to look forward to everything 2017 will bring. With this kind of success, we’re sure to see more from Forza in the future. Hopefully we’ll have more details on just what is next in the coming months.
