Fox launches new Gaming Division with AR and VR content

FoxNext

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox announced on January 18 that they are creating a new division focused around gaming. Titled FoxNext, the studio will be focused around creating and maintaining AR and VR experiences as well as consolidating and expanding the efforts of existing video games units, such as those responsible for Alien: Isolation. FoxNext will also work on “location-based entertainment” such as theme parks.

Salil Mehta has been appointed CEO of FoxNext. He previously worked as president of content management at 20th Century Fox Film. Stacey Snider, the CEO of Twentieth Century Fox Film, stated that “Building on the momentum we’ve already seen in this area via the Fox Innovation Lab, FoxNext represents a natural next step in defining our long-term vision in this arena, and Salil is quite simply the perfect executive to build this group into what we know will be an industry leader.”

Any projects an entertainment juggernaut like Fox undertakes are worth noting, so hopefully we’ll get more details on any games or experiences being developed in the coming months.
