Gear Up Rangers, Wasteland 3 is Coming!

Developer inXile have announced today on twitter that a new installment in the Wasteland saga will soon go into production, imaginatively titled Wasteland 3. After finding solid success with Wasteland 2 in recent times, the studio has turned to Fig in order to gather funds for the game and they are looking for an amount similar to what they collected via Kickstarter for that title. Wasteland 2 proved to be a very successful campaign garnering the guys at inXile a cool $3 million from backers keen to roam to the post apocalyptic wastes with a team of desert rangers. A couple of screenshots for the new game were also posted which you can check out below:

It’s not only more of the same however. While it will feature a compelling narrative and all the tough moral dilemmas that characterize previous entries, Wasteland 3 will have many new inclusions such as the addition of vehicles, environmental hazards and an upgradeable ranger base. The game will be set in the frigid reaches of Colorado which adds a fresh, icy aesthetic to proceedings and according to inXile, will be playable in co-op. While many may argue that Wasteland has always been primarily single player,  the studio has said that “the core of Wasteland 3 will still be a rich single-player experience, but players will also have the option of teaming up with a friend, each of them controlling their own squad of Rangers.

A quick description of what to expect from Wasteland 3 straight out of the press release:

You start the game as the sole survivor of Team November, a Ranger squad dispatched to the icy Colorado wastes. This is a land of buried secrets, lost technology, fearsome lunatics, and deadly factions. No one here has ever heard of the Desert Rangers. Your reputation is yours to build from scratch, and your choices may save this land or doom it.

The Fig campaign for Wasteland 3 will kick off on October 5th seeking $2.75 million to begin building the game. No launch date is known but inXile have confirmed releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
