God of War’s release date has possibly leaked

God of War's release date
Kratos returns next March?

PSX 2017 is right around the corner but one of the surprises may have already leaked. In fact, God of War’s release date may now be out in the wild. As posted here on DualShockers, the PlayStation Store briefly showed a release date of March 22nd, 2018. It was later corrected to the placeholder date of December 31st, 2018. God of War's release date

This makes sense for a variety of reasons. To start, just look at the release dates for every prior God of War game:

God of War series release dates
  • God of War – March 22nd, 2005
  • God of War II – March 13th, 2007
  • God of War: Chains of Olympus – March 4th, 2008
  • God of War III – March 16th, 2010
  • God of War: Ghost of Sparta – November 2nd, 2010
  • God of War: Ascension – March 12th, 2013

As you can see, only God of War: Ghost of Sparta released outside of March. Considering it was a PSP title and God of War III released the same year however, that’s not a strong argument against a March release date. Additionally, March 22nd was the day the first game came out, so it’s fitting on multiple levels. Obviously we’ll need to wait and see but I’m around 95% sure this is the real release date. We’ll keep you covered on any announcements from the upcoming Game Awards or PSX 2017.
