While we are still waiting on Logan to arrive in theaters, the next X-Men film is about to begin production. Director Josh Boon confirmed on Twitter that the movie will be based around the New Mutants storyline and characters. Set construction will begin sometime in January 2017, while shooting is currently scheduled to start in April.

The X-Men series has had a convoluted history on film, with reboots through time-travel shenanigans and a heavy emphasis on changing the course of the future. With Logan just a few short months away and Deadpool 2 having its script currently worked out, it will be interesting to see just how New Mutants fits into the current timeline, or if indeed it changes things further.
