Nintendo Promises Switch Will Have “Nintendo Flair”, Smash Possibly Confirmed?

Nintendo Promises

Nintendo has dominated gaming news as of late, with quite a bit of new information on the upcoming Switch console, games and accessories. With all the talk about games confirmed to be in development, some gamers have been wondering whether or not we will see Super Smash Bros. on the Switch anytime soon. Now, it appears we may have been given an answer.

Reggie Fils-Aimé, President of Nintendo America, recently gave an interview with Time. In it, he talks about how Nintendo is focusing on providing a broad range of games for all audiences, pointing to games like 1-2 Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as examples of great family titles releasing either with the console or soon after. On the other hand, games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will have a “much more narrow” audience.

He goes on to talk about how Nintendo believes in doing things differently but they will definitely make sure they stay in tune with their consumers. He explains, “But what we will do, is we will recognize what consumers like about our competitors, we will look to do it in a way that has a Nintendo flair to it.”

One of his next statements is particularly interesting “…we’ve got this robust, online environment that not only works well for our games, like Splatoon and Mario Kart and Smash Bros., but that also works great for our third party developers.” This definitely reads to me like a confirmation of Super Smash Bros. coming to the Switch in the near future. Hopefully we can get a more detailed confirmation fairly soon.
