Obsidian unveils Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire

RPG fans know Obsidian as a studio that really knows how to craft an epic adventure filled with awesome moments and intricate characters. Whether you remember their efforts from the past like Knights of the Old Republic II or more recent titles such as the critically lauded Tyranny, it’s safe to say they know their stuff when it comes to role playing games.

It looks as though Obsidian are sticking to exactly that because they have just announced their next project, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, a sequel to the studio’s popular title from 2015. Kickstarter was the funding tool used for development of the original game and Obsidian have decided on a similar tact. This time they are going with crowdfunding site Fig in order to gather $1.1 million from fantasy gamers everywhere.

Deadfire sees the return of Eothas, the god of light and rebirth thought dead for good. Unknown to all,  he inhabited the stone titan that sat buried under your keep, Caed Nua, for millennia. Ripping his way out of the ground, he destroys your stronghold and leaves you at the brink of death. To save your soul, you must track down the wayward god and demand answers – answers which could throw mortals and the gods themselves into chaos.

Take a look at the announcement trailer below for more details:

Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire is well on it’s way to full funding with 65% of it’s goal already achieved. Check out the Fig campaign page for loads more information on the game as well as some stunning screenshots. Obsidian plans to release on PC in early 2018.
