Origin Access

Right before I start this one, I don’t want you getting the wrong impression of me. I’m not a bad man, I’m not some kind of school-yard bully who pushes the fat kid (I am one for a start!) and pulls the wings off bugs. I like to consider myself a nice guy. I hold the door open for ladies, I smile and chat with the checkout workers at my local supermarket and I remember by wife’s birthday AND our wedding anniversary*…

…so DON’T JUDGE ME! I like Origin. There, I said it.

Now that’s out of the way, I’ll crack on. Following the success of EA’s “EA Access” for Xbox One, and following Sony’s refusal to use it, EA decided to utilise this feature on their own gaming platform for the PC – Origin.

If you were to join Origin Access you get a raft of benefits which I’ll go through with you now. Firstly, you get access to The Vault – which is a collection of games that are yours to play for however long you want, for no extra cost. The include:

  • Battlefield 3
  • Battlefield 4 – Premium Edition
  • Battlefield Hardline – Origin Ultimate Edition
  • FIFA 16
  • SimCity
  • The Sim 3 Starter Pack (Includes The Sims 3, Late Night Expansion Pack and High-End Loft Stuff)
  • The Dead Space Trilogy
  • The Dragon Age Trilogy (including Dragon Age Origins – Ultimate Edition and Dragon Age Inquisition – Digital Deluxe Edition)
  • Need for Speed Rivals – Complete Edition
  • Titanfall – Deluxe Edition
  • The Banner Saga
  • This War of Mine
  • Torchlight II
  • Plants vs Zombies – Garden Warfare

With more games incoming soon, including the Mass Effect Trilogy, Trine, Peggle, Dungeons of Dredmor and Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Also you will get exclusive first trials of new EA Games – 5 days before they are released. And this isn’t just early access demos, oh no, these are full versions of the games for you to trial for free with your progress being carried over if you decide to buy!

You also get a 10% discount on all Origin Purchases including new releases, DLC, FIFA Ultimate Team points and more. These discounts will even apply if there is a sales on.

Finally, there is no minimum contract with this. If you try it for a few months or hell even a few days, you can cancel any time you want.

The prices are:

  • $4.99 – US
  • £3.99 – UK
  • $4.99(CAN) – Canada
  • $6.99(AUS) – Australia
  • €3.99 – Europe

And it’s even better value if you purchase a yearly subscription, but you can look that up yourself, if I let you know what that is as well how will you learn?

To see what I’ve just told you straight from the horses mouth, (and to find out those yearly subscription costs) go to their website which is right here. I mean here. No, wait….here.

Now I’m no stranger to the internet, if you happen to have any opinions on Origin (surely not!), or you have Origin Access and would like to say your piece, then do! Leave a comment or go to the forums!

*True Story – This year on our wedding anniversary, I’ll be in sunny Cyprus in the Mediterranean while my wife is at home with the kids…oops.
