Phil Spencer talks Xbox First Party Titles for 2017

Head of Xbox promises more first party titles than last year

I was thinking about upcoming games the other night. There’s a lot of talk about the Nintendo Switch, obviously. There’s also a lot of talk around some imminent releasing exclusives and first party titles from Sony, Nioh and Horizon: Zero Dawn are two that come to mind. Not to mention the Crash Bandicoot: ‘N’ Sane Trilogy. What about Xbox?

Well there’s actually a fair few games coming, though currently there doesn’t seem to be much of a marketing campaign driving these first party titles and exclusives.

So far, known first party titles for 2017 are the following:
  • Halo Wars 2.
  • Phantom Dust.
  • Crackdown 3.
  • Sea of Thieves.
  • State of Decay 2.

There’s also reports of Forza 7 coming before the close of the year. Six confirmed titles isn’t a bad number of first party exclusives. Though there may well be more coming, if the recent tweet from Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, is to be believed.

It stands to reason that we haven’t seen everything that Xbox has to offer 2017, but this is always positive to see. With the impending release of Project Scorpio, the next 4K-enabled console addition to the Xbox family, we are bound to see some more games announced. Plus, we’re at the start of the year, so there’s all of the big conferences to come yet.

Following the recent, and fairly disappointing, news that upcoming dragon adventure Scalebound was cancelled, it’s positive to hear this news. Though I guess we’ll need to wait and see what Microsoft come up with in the coming months. What do you think will be heading to Xbox next?
