Pokemon Global Link Closing for Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire in October

The Pokemon Global Link (PGL) will be closing for the last generation of games (X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire) in late October of 2016, so it can be upgraded to work with Pokemon Sun and Moon. The current PGL has been active since October of 2013, right before X and Y came out. Now this doesn’t mean that the online services will be closed, just certain ones pertaining to PGL.

When the service ends you’ll still be able to do the following things online.

  • Trade Pokemon over GTS
  • Trade Pokemon over Wonder Trade
  • Have Random Matchup Free Battles
  • Receive Mystery Gifts

The announcement also mentions that the PGL is scheduled to open back up on November 18th when Sun and Moon are out.

Will you still use these old features in these games when Sun and Moon come out? Or will you just move on completely?

I know I’ll still use Mystery Gift cause that gives me extra Pokemon that are special and around for a certain time to use for trades.
