Reggie Fils-Aimé Talks About The Nintendo NX and More

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with alistdaily, spoke candidly about what Nintendo must do better when launching NX and making sure the new console has a better start than its predecessor, the Wii U.

“One of the things that we have to do better when we launch the NX—we have to do a better job communicating the positioning for the product”, Fils-Aime shared. This idea of course comes from the shaky launch of the Wii U and how at times it appeared Nintendo first-party games aside, had a hard time utilizing the Wii U hardware to it’s fullest potential.

In the alistdaily article originally shared by Eurogamer, Fils-Aime also spoke on the importance of making sure consumers understand what the NX is, something many can agree that Nintendo fell short of with the Wii U. “We have to do a better job helping people to understand its uniqueness and what that means for the game playing experience.”

Reggie goes on to talk about how the mobile market will introduce people to Nintendo games and how it could possibly lead them to buying a full title, either handheld or or on a home console. “We believe that as a wide swath of consumers have an experience with Fire Emblem on mobile for example, that it’s going to lead them to purchase the full Fire Emblem experience that today is on our handheld.” We still don’t know what these mobile experiences will be like, but perhaps it could hook people into playing a series they never would have even tried.

What do you guys think the launch of the NX should look like? Do you think Nintendo mobile experiences could lead more casual consumers to their core franchises?
