Visage – A Kickstarter Project

I have a certain penchant for indie games, and especially indie games that need a little help via crowdfunding website – Kickstarter. A lot of the games can be a little…gash, a lot of the games can be downright bizarre and a lot of the games can be just god-awful. But then, sometimes, from the thousands of games that are put onto Kickstarter, you get a game that just looks an absolute belter. Sometimes you get a game that makes you wonder why the hell it’s trying to just gain funding and not already in full production with a major publisher backing them. One such game, is Visage.

The game is described on the Kickstarter page as follows:

“The game will be set inside a huge house in which terrible things have happened. You’ll wander through the gloomy corridors, explore every dead room, and get lost in endless mazes, your head filling with memories of the dead families that once lived in this very home. This twisted environment, void of any life other than yours, will take you to places you couldn’t even bear imagining.

“The game takes place in a secluded town in the 1980s. The house you are in has been there for centuries, and its foundations never seem to decay. Dozens of families have lived here. Many of them died brutally, while others lived their lives placidly in their beloved home. Is there something triggering inevitable deaths, or is it pure coincidence?

“In Visage, you will be shown and will relive fragments of history that will send chills down your spine. Each of these fragments will drag you closer to what’s behind the dark history of this place. You will witness, firsthand, how people died in this horrible house. Each death has its visage. Will you dare look into its eyes?”

With an initial goal of $35,000(Canadian) to just make the game, that target was smashed. So then the next target was $45,000 to bring the game to PS4 and Xbox One – smashed. $50,000 for VR Support? Done. £75,000 for more 3D character models? Sorted. $85,000 for more language options? Forget about it, that’s done. $110,000 for a “Major Game Extension”? Also, yes.

So far the pledges stand at a whopping $120,129, which is just under $40,000 short of their next target which looks like it could be a whopper for a game like this – Multiple Endings.

There are also 2 further Stretch Goals, of $250,000 (which will unlock a secret goal that they will not reveal) and of course the pinnacle goal of $1,000,000 to change the game from being set just in a house, to an isolated town. Reach for the stars my freinds…

So, what do you think? Will you donate $15 in order to get yourself a copy of the game on Steam when it is released? Does this game grab you by the short and curly’s? Or does it not appeal? Let us know what you think in the comments!
