What you can expect from: Final Fantasy Type 0 HD

Most sane and insane role-playing game (RPG) fans have heard of Square-Enix’sFinal Fantasy’ franchise. It’s a game that has proved and still does prove, to be highly profitable for Square-Enix.

I happen to be one of “those” players that jumped on the ‘Final Fantasy’ bandwagon with Final Fantasy VII and have played the franchise through to X-2 and the online MMO Final Fantasy XIV.FF1

I missed out on Final Fantasy XII and XIII and the online game Final Fantasy XI, though I have plenty of time to catch up. I love the work and effort that the SE game developers put into creating unique and in-depth stories.

The point of this article is to give you some feedback on the upcoming title Final Fantasy Type-0tm HD. The official release date for PC is 18th August 2015, however it has been available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since the 17th of March 2015.

It’s a new type of ‘Final Fantasy’ and it will hold all the trademark qualities of the final fantasy series on steroids and has been upgraded significantly from the original PSP version. It will have an immersive world with upgraded graphics and resolution for high-end PCs.

In an article by Techno Buffalo, Hajime Tabata, the games developer stated that:

“Developing Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for Steam gave us the opportunity to fully realize our original vision of the game in an enhanced and refined experience exclusively for PC players.”

If you play DoTA 2 and happen to pre-order Final Fantasy Type 0 HD you’ll receive a Chocobo as a courier and a Class Zero Moogle Ward skin.

SE’s description of the game tells gamers that you will ‘Step into the fray as Class Zero, a group of fourteen students from an elite military academy whose country is attacked by an aggressive neighbouring Empire. Using the powerful abilities and magic of all fourteen characters in fast-paced action RPG combat, players must face the brutality and injustices of war to uncover the secrets of its genesis.’

FF2Final Fantasy ‘Type O’ HD appears to have a similar theme to Final Fantasy VIII, particularly around the concept of military trained students with the obvious differences that the students known as ‘Class Zero’ will be fighting in the defence of their country rather than as SeeD mercenaries for hire. The graphics look impressive and the game looks like a massive blend of different titles that creates an epic title completely different in its own right.

The Battle System will be bloody and action-packed where every attack carries the weight of mortality; Fire will incinerate foes and the deadly Kill Sight is an instant fatality. Not sure what Kill Sight is yet but I can assume it means ‘BOOM!’, ‘HEADSHOT!’ I eagerly await the release date on the 18th of August and look forward to exploring and immersing myself in this ‘Final Fantasy‘ world.

Let me know your thoughts and feelings for the release on PC via steam and if you’ve already played this game on PSP what were your thoughts? I’ve already pre-purchased it on steam and can’t wait until it’s released.

If time permits I’ll keep you updated with my own personal thoughts and feelings on the game. Watch this space.
