Yesterday, Activision held their quarterly investor call. While the company continues to do quite well, they did confirm that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare underperformed from a sales perspective. Now, it seems this has had a negative impact across their internal studios. According to Kotaku, Activision has laid off staff at Infinity Ward and other development studios they own.

Sledgehammer Games, who are developing this year’s Call of Duty, are undoubtedly feeling a lot of pressure as a result of these layoffs. Activision has also announced Destiny 2 to be coming this year. Both titles need to hit a high level of quality, as well as be engaging for gamers. Not everyone liked Infinite Warfare and it’s a shame this has resulted in the loss of employment at Infinity Ward.

Hopefully the affected developers find new jobs fairly soon.
