GOG Connect – Link Your GOG and Steam Accounts + GOG Sale

Only a few short hours ago, GOG introduced us all to their new feature in collaboration with Steam – GOG Connect. It’s a simple thing, just connect your Steam Account to your GOG Account to add eligible games to your GOG Library.

“What is the benefit of this?” I hear you ask – well, Jimmy, let me tell you – and by the way, your name is now Jimmy. GOG sells games that are DRM Free, that basically means that the games are sold as individual items that once you’ve downloaded, are yours to do with what you want. You don’t require an internet connection to play them and you don’t need to run any software like Steam or Origin to play them.

The list itself is not a constant thing, it will be a more fluid offer with eligible games coming and going, but at the moment there are 20+ games that you can add to your GOG Library from Steam, including:

  • The Witness
  • FTL: Faster Than Light
  • The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
  • Galactic Civilizations 3
  • Trine Enchanted Edition
  • Saints Row 2
  • Shadowrun Returns
  • The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

As an additional bonus, up until the 6th June (12.59pm UTC), a number of games are also on offer at up to 85% off including:

  • Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package
  • Trine 2: Complete Story
  • Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power
  • System Shock 2
  • Sorcerer King
  • Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion Ultimate Edition
  • Chaos Reborn
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor’s Choice Edition
  • The Witness
  • Breach & Clear
  • Breach & Clear: Deadline
  • To The Moon
  • VVVVV
  • Xenonauts
  • Broken Sword 1 – 5

So there isn’t much else to say on it, other than get yourself over to GOG and sort it out! Are you happy about this new found ability to play some of your Steam games DRM free? Do you even care? Whatever your opinion, let us know in the comments below or in the RGM Forums.
