Civilization VI “25th Anniversary Edition” Announced with Details

Civilization VI for me is one of the must-buy games of 2016. I mean come on, it’s Civilization for goodness sake! It’s a gaming institution, held in the pantheon of amazing and historic games along with other phenomenal games as Super Mario Bros., Wolfenstein 3D, Space Invaders and Pac-Man to name but a few. And this October 21st, one of gaming’s best loved franchises is back with it’s 6th major instalment in Civilization VI.

And now, to celebrate a quarter of a century of gaming greatness, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will also come in a limited “25th Anniversary Edition”. This will be a limited edition as it will only be available in a physical format, so this is not available through Steam, and it will also set you back $89.99, here’s what is available:

  • Full Civilization VI Game and all Bonus Digital Content found in the Digital Deluxe Edition*
  • Aztec Civilization Pack Pre-Order Bonus**
  • Civilization Through the Years 100-Page Hardcover Art Book
  • Exclusive 25th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Set with Display Case

*Bonus Digital Content includes the 25th Anniversary Digital Soundtrack and access to four post-launch DLC packs that will add new maps, scenarios, civilizations and leaders for a bundled discount. Individual DLC may be sold separately. If you purchase the 25th Anniversary Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition, do not also purchase these standalone packs, as you will be charged for them.

**EXCLUSIVE PRE-ORDER ITEM FOR 90 DAYS, AFTER WHICH THE CONTENT WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO ALL OWNERS OF THE GAME.

So really for this, you’re getting Civilization VI: Digital Deluxe Edition (which will cost $79.99 anyway) plus the Aztec Civilization 3 months earlier than everyone else, the art book and a commemorative coin set. For me personally, I would have preferred not to have the art-book and coins, and would have preferred maybe something like an HD remake of the original Civilization and Civilization II – no extra bells and whistles, the original 2 but with a new lick of HD paint.

But that’s just me, what about you? Does this look like the kind of Limited Edition bundle you’d get? How long have you been playing the Civilization games? Let us know in the comments below or in the RGM Forums.
