Carrie Fisher, the princess and role model of many fans and more, has passed away

passed away

We lost our R2-D2 this year, now the world has lost the one and only Princess Leia. Carrie Fisher has passed away a few days following a heart attack she suffered on a flight she was on. Her passing is immensely unfortunate as it had seemed that Fisher’s prognosis was somewhat positive and news about her condition had sounded promising.

This news is considered by many to be just another reason why 2016 is the worst year of them all because it has taken so many amazing talents and figures in the entertainment industry. I’d rather not do that, as there’s enough negativity going around these days that adding more to the pile would not be helpful or remotely beneficial. Instead, let us celebrate the Princess (who became a general in Force Awakens) that every Star Wars fans idolized and served as a fitting role model for what many people could aspire to be.

Even outside of Star Wars, Fisher had an awesomely-odd sense of humor and seemed like quite the personality that made an impact on many people’s lives all across the movie industry. She may have had her personal problems through the years, but she still had a natural ability to dish out some great wisdom in the form of her quotes (which I will share a couple particularly special ones below):

“While the place that I’ve arrived at in my life may not precisely be everyone’s idea of heavenly, I could swear sometimes — I hear angels sing.”

“Bipolar disorder can be a great teacher. it’s a challenge, but it can set you up to be able to do almost anything else in your life.”

“Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”

“I don’t want my life to imitate art, i want my life to be art.”

Regardless of if she was donning her iconic Princess Leia attire (or hair-do), Fisher proved that she was endlessly wise and personable no matter what. As many have across the internet, we here at RGM would like to thank Carrie Fisher for what she did for little girls who hoped to achieve Leia’s sense of leadership and independence or feel the level of confidence in themselves that Fisher seemed to keep within herself. She was a great role model for all, a great and iconic Princess, and she will be undoubtedly missed.
