Mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox One: What You Need to Know

fallout 4, nuka world, nuka cola, dlc

The day has finally arrived. Mods are now available for Fallout 4 on Xbox One. You’ll find them in the game’s main menu.

If you’re interested in adding mods to your Fallout 4 experience, there are a few things to know before you get started.

If you can’t view the video:

  • You need a Bethesda.net account. To sign up for one, visit the Bethesda website. You link this account with your gamertag in-game.
  • You can view all available Xbox One mods online. Having a Bethesda.net account not only lets you download mods, it lets you favorite the ones you like, rate mods, and even have them downloaded to your Xbox. You can do this on the Xbox One or at Bethesda.net. Browsing mods via a browser can be a bit easier to navigate for some people.
  • Mod cautiously. I know it’s tempting, and there’s currently over 900 to choose from, but don’t go overboard with mods. Mods can sometimes “fight” with each other. Having too many mods may cause issues, especially if they are for the same type of item (e.g. two mods that alter clothing options). You don’t want to have major problems with your Fallout 4 game. Read each mod’s description carefully. Mod creators often know what their mods will and won’t work with, and will sometimes provide advice for using the mod.
  • You can change the “Mod order.” In rare cases some mods have to be loaded before others. Check each mod’s description for advice.
  • Mods save separately. If you’re looking for an old save, you may have to disable mods and select a different character. Modded game saves contain the [M] prefix, just as survival mode games are denoted by [S].
  • Removing mods may cause issues. You are able to remove mods. However, sometimes this will cause problems in your Fallout 4 game. Consult a mod’s information before removing it.
  • Mods disable achievements. That’s just how it goes. Consider beating the game’s main story line before implementing mods, or mod on a second playthrough.

If you’re debating which mods may be a good idea to install, here are my top 8 mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox One. For those of you on PS4, don’t worry. Bethesda has promised mods are coming to the Sony console in June.
