Gamers have been waiting since E3 2016 to know the exact details of Microsoft’s newest console. Now, the Project Scorpio full specifications have finally been unveiled, as far as the report provided by Digital Foundry goes:

Here’s the major takeaways:
  • CPU: Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz
  • GPU: 40 customised compute units at 1172MHz
  • Memory: 12GB GDDR5
  • Memory Bandwidth: 326GB/s
  • Hard Drive: 1TB 2.5-inch
  • Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray

All in all, things look extremely promising for this console. It looks like Microsoft are definitely committed to delivering on their promise of a powerful box, capable of delivering native 4K.

  • Looks like a very promising console for MS as far as hardware. The question now is what they have planned for us games wise and for existing and possible new services plus building on existing services, backwards compatibility, 3rd party marketing deals, PC – Console interaction. I think they’ve learned some valuable lessons with X1 and now it’s time for them to show “all” their cards! I personally do not think VR and especially Kinect is going to “play”(pun intended) so much a factor in it’s success so they really need to bring the exclusives along PC dev and 3rd party support. I’m a fan of all 3 console makers and I want each to succeed so in saying that I hope the best for this new chapter of Xbox.
