Sometimes packing up a game and sending it to a friend or family member in another state or country is just not practical, not only is there risk that the disk will get damaged or lost, but it can also be a very slow process.
Thankfully, if you are a member of the Xbox 360 preview program you can now send gift cards, replacing the need for postage.
This service is currently only available in the US, Canada, France, Germany and the UK, and is obviously a digital service.
The process is very simple, as demonstrated by Major Nelson below, and can be conducted via the Social twist or the Xbox Guide.
Once you select the amount you want to send and process your transaction, the recipient will receive an Xbox Live message advising them of your gift. All they need to do is click that ‘Redeem Code’ button and they are ready to go shopping.
I think this is an excellent service which had been in need for some time. As gamers we interact with friends across the entire globe and having the ability to send gifts will be well received by many. I can only hope that this service is opened up to more regions.
