Ryan Reynolds surely must be riding high these days after the resounding success of Deadpool. So much so, that work has already begun on Deadpool 3 before the second movie is even set to finish filming.
According to our sources at The Wolf Hall, the merc with a mouth’s third adventure is looking to build largely off of the introduction of Cable and Domino in Deadpool 2. In the comics, Cable is the original leader of the X-Force with Deadpool and Domino joining the team as well, so it would seem a simple transition from the second movies rumored plot.
While it is nice to look so far ahead, Deadpool 2 has not exactly hit the ground running, with the director Tim Miller recently leaving the project due to creative differences with lead star Ryan Reynolds. Speculations are all but confirmed that the main difference between the two was the casting of Deadpool’s unwilling best-friend, Cable. After the many years it took to get the original off the ground, it is no surprise to hear about Ryan Reynolds drawing a line in the sand for such an important role.
At the time of Tim Miller’s exit, casting for the integral roles for Deadpool 2 were rumored to have Bloodline star Kyle Chandler to play Cable and The Martian actress Mackenzie Davis for the role of Domino.
With the recent news that Fox will shake up the X-Men franchise yet again after the upcoming Logan and Deadpool 2 movies, it could spell more bad news for the rollercoaster box office series. But the likelihood of success for Deadpool 2 may have Fox move their focuses to the X-Force franchise, garnering more support for the third installment.
For now, Deadpool 2 looks for a new director, and the fans have hope that the first Deadpool earned enough good faith from Fox that the sequel will not suffer from major budget cuts and turmoil, as the first movie did.
What do you think of the news of Deadpool 2’s director exit? Will Deadpool strike gold yet as the first did? Is it time for Marvel to regain the X-Men franchise as they did Spiderman? Will Fox ever turn out an acclaimed hit with a third mutant movie? Were you a fan of the recent X-Men cast? Let us know in the comments below, on the RGM Forums or over on our Twitter.
