New Assassin’s Creed Movie Clip released!

Oh Assassin’s Creed, please be good. Video game movies get a bum rap, and it’s not exactly difficult to see why. Warcraft had plenty to like (even if critics weren’t big fans) and maybe AC will earn praise from others outside general audiences. This clip that was released by Fox just the other day gives us a glimpse at the re-designed Animus and how it works visually.

Considering that the video game’s version of the Animus is basically just a bed, this is a huge upgrade visually. Now, it’s not like the Animus bed model wouldn’t work. It’s more that this updated version of the Animus gives Michael Fassbender’s present-day character more to do, especially when it comes to the action in the film.

As some have pointed out in the comments, this isn’t likely to be how the actual scene plays out (it seems to be very quick and rushed which doesn’t really fit director Justin Kurzel’s style), but it gives a good idea as to the role Marion Cotillard plays in relation to Fassbender, as well as just how confused Fassbender is with this whole situation (spoiler: very). I also like the touch of the Animus “dipping” Fassbender into the past, almost like in Harry Potter with Dumbledore’s Pensieve.

The clip doesn’t show much else, but I can’t be the only one who can’t wait for all the ancestor scenes as they seem to be the most action-packed and most visually-appealing.

Assassin’s Creed comes out December 21st.

How does AC look to you? Do you think this movie has a chance to succeed, or do you think it’ll go the same route of all other video game movies? Let us know in the comments!
