Fans of the Hellboy series may finally get a chance to see the long-awaited third installment.
In a vote hosted by Guillermo del Toro, the acclaimed director promised to reach out to the Hellboy star Ron Pearlman and original Hellboy creator and artist Mike Mignola for talks to make the third movie.
The vote reached the goal of 100 thousand and Toro officially announced on his Twitter that he would seek out the two to being talks.
Shortly thereafter, Toro released an update stating that Ron Pearlman would be inclined to discuss the movie and he just needed to contact Mignola as well.
While the first two Hellboy movies never truly reached commercial or critical fame, the series has had an avid fan base ever since its debut in Dark Horse comics in 1993. The rumors of a third film have stirred around the grapevine for years but, this is the first news on anything official.
As of now, Toro says he can’t promise the film will be made but, setting a meeting with Pearlman and Mignola would be a strong first step.
